Former CT Resident Gets Star On Walk Of Fame: 'The Office' Producer Michael Schur Honored

If you've ever caught yourself watching countless episodes of shows like "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation," you have former Connecticut resident Michael Schur to thank, who will soon be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Schur, who has produced or co-created several popular television shows such as "The Office," is among the latest group of entertainment professionals who have been chosen to have their names etched on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday, June 26. 

Born in Michigan in 1975, Schur and his family soon moved to Connecticut, where he was raised in West Hartford and attended William H. Hall High School. 

After graduating from Harvard University in 1997, Schur went on to become a writer for "Saturday Night Live" before producing and writing episodes for "The Office," ultimately winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2006. 

Schur also had a hand in creating "Parks and Recreation," "The Good Place," and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." He also helped produce the series "Master of None." 

All in all, Schur has been nominated for a whopping 19 Emmy Awards during his career, also winning one for his work on "Saturday Night Live." 

In addition to Schur, the following celebrities will be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of its Class of 2024: 

  • Motion Pictures: Chadwick Boseman (posthumous), Kevin Feige, Gal Gadot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chris Meledandri, Chris Pine, Christina Ricci, and Michelle Yeoh;
  • Television: Ken Jeong, Eugene Levy, Mario Lopez, Jim Nantz, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michael Schur, Kerry Washington, and Raúl De Molina and Lili Estefan, Co-Hosts of the television show, “El Gordo y La Flaca” (double ceremony);
  • Recording: Glen Ballard, Toni Braxton, Def Leppard, Charles Fox, Sammy Hagar, Brandy Norwood, Darius Rucker, Gwen Stefani, and Andre ‘Dr. Dre’ Young;
  • Live Theatre/Live Performance: Jane Krakowski and Otis Redding (posthumous);
  • Radio: Angie Martinez
